       @heluecht Well, I wonder how many in today's fediverse even know the name Laconica. TBH though, back in the Laconica days this wasn't really a decentralized network.

       @beni @heluecht Hey. There was even one alternative OpenMicroBlogging implementation! =)But yeah, it didn't really take off until OStatus and StatusNet. And then it didn't really really take off until the pumpocalypse and the qvitters. And then it didn't really really really take off until Mastodon (does anyone remember rstat.us?).And then it didn't *explode* until ActivityPub.

       @clacke @heluecht True, the pumpocalypse lead to the disappearance of identi.ca from the OStatus landscape which in turn lead to a way more distributed OStatus net. Of course there were others, if I recall correctly Friendica and Diaspora were both already around at that time - but both speaking their own protocol, unable to interact with OStatus.The upside and challenge of today's situation is the fact that there are a lot of ActivityPub implementations floating around.Speaking of pump, is pump.io still thing and is Evan still around somewhere?
