@tomdeb : we're in a very similar condition (ICT addicted; short on time; childs to grow, etc.) and as I think you've ICT running in your DNA, probably you'll appreciate to spend time on a "microcontroller-based self-built FishTank". I wonder if you've ever heard about Arduino and/or other microcontrollers. Start giving a look to OpenAquarium: https://cutt.ly/JkZWad1BTW: Arduino heavily impacted my life (https://cutt.ly/PkZWg8K ) and currently is powering 100% of lights, in my house...

@verzulli oh yeah definitely head about it. I have an obsession with monitoring and I expect to cross that bridge when the hobby gets easier. I've started looking into reef-pi. you familiar with it ? https://reef-pi.github.io/

@tomdeb you don't need to do a 25% water change on such a small tank. i did a 15%-20% on a 110L. Less prone to sudden temperature and quality changes. You should only do that much if the tank is crowded.

@r3pek yeah well you guessed it. The tank is crowded. I only do a water change when necessary, ie: nitrates get close to 80ppm, and that happens on average every 3 weeks. I prefer doing a larger water change less often and it seems that the fish can take it 💪

@tomdeb : that looks *VERY* interesting. It's based on the Raspberry platform, that I'm sure you know and will be easily put 100% "under control" by you. I see that the project is *VERY* active ( https://cutt.ly/HkZElxG ) and you have all you need to get deeper: it's only a matter of... time :-) [ but I'm sure you can cut, like me, some more "sleep time" ] 🙂 BTW: I prefer real micros to RPIs: they're cheaper and require less power. But in your case, it's a detail: go forward with RPI!
