@tomdeb : we're in a very similar condition (ICT addicted; short on time; childs to grow, etc.) and as I think you've ICT running in your DNA, probably you'll appreciate to spend time on a "microcontroller-based self-built FishTank". I wonder if you've ever heard about Arduino and/or other microcontrollers. @tomdeb : that looks *VERY* interesting. It's based on the Raspberry platform, that I'm sure you know and will be easily put 100% "under control" by you. I see that the project is *VERY* active ( https://cutt.ly/HkZElxG ) and you have all you need to get deeper: it's only a matter of... time :-) [ but I'm sure you can cut, like me, some more "sleep time" ] 🙂 BTW: I prefer real micros to RPIs: they're cheaper and require less power. But in your case, it's a detail: go forward with RPI!

@tomdeb : I've hundreds of meters of RS485 twisted pair (grounded) running "inside" _AND_ "outside" (phisically underneath the garden): very happy with their reliability :-)

@quinta : lo spirito "hacker/maker", mi porterebbe ad implementarlo con un ESP32 [1] (in modo da averlo "wifi nativo") a cui aggiungere un DHT-22 [2] (sensore digitale di temperatura e umidita'), un relay [3] (per attivare/disattivare il dispositivo collegato) ed il rispettivo "case" (da progettare e stampare 3D). Serve, chiaramente, anche la parte "power" (batterie - immagino 2AA e relativo hardware di gestione).(continua...)

Una via intermedia potrebbe essere un ProDino Wifi-ESP [4], che arriva gia' in un case DIN... ma manca di sensore temperatura (che quindi andrebbe aggiunto).Se sara' a batteria, consiglio anche l'approfondimento "energetico": se si vuole che la batteria duri _TANTO_, occorre prestare attenzione. Infine, suggerirei di tenere d'occhio il progetto OpenEnergyMonitor [5]: vedo che include emonTH [6], ossia il componente che monitora temperatura ed umidita' e si interfaccia con il resto dell'infrastruttura (..che puo' includere gli attuatori).Ribadisco: tutto cio', in un qualsiasi ITS o in un MakerLab... è fattibilissimo.

@quinta : se hai una caldaia "relativamente classica", dovrebbe essere semplice [chiudi un contatto => la caldaia accende la fiamma e si attiva; apri il contatto => la caldaia spegne la fiamma]. In molti altri casi, pero' [inclusa la mia Pompa di Calore] non è affatto cosi' scontato e.... tocca trovare sistemi un po' piu' "brutali" (...sui quasi sto ancora lavorando [a bassa priorita']) :-)

@quinta @mtorchiano @fulcorno : fra lo scenario attuale ("la scuola è all'abbandono") e l'alternativa centralizzata ("Ministero offre un servizio unico/centralizzato a tutte le scuole"), c'é una via di mezzo: le scuole vengono "adottate" dall'Ateneo più vicino. L'Ateneo --anche il più piccolo-- ha le risorse ICT per erogare servizi alle scuole e, con poco sforzo, trova pure le risorse umane. Sarebbe win-win-win (si formerebbero i tecnici del futuro)

@homezappa @quinta : si è **REALMENTE** vecchi... solo se si riconosce l'oggetto principale di questa foto.... che --ATTENZIONE--, è poggiato su un foglio A4 (...che essendo largo 21cm, **NON** corrisponde a 5,25") :-)Io non solo lo riconosco... ma li conservo gelosamente (li ho appena fotografati) e... mi capitò pure di usarli (in una tipografia, BTW).
