       is there an iPhone app which, all it does, is you take a picture, and it uploads that exact picture to a directory on your own server, using FTP or SCP? i'm not looking for something that syncs photos from your camera roll. i'm not looking for dropbox. i'm not looking for anything other than: open the app, take a picture, picture goes to server, take another picture, that goes to the server too

       @jk NextCloud does that.

       @onan this looks like a kind of dropbox-alternative?? i already have dropbox. i'm not looking for this kind of app, sorry. i just want: open app, camera activates, take picture, and also a settings screen to tell it where the picture goes

       @jk NextCloud has file syncing, yes. Yes it does. You are correct. Just like DropBox. That's not what you're looking for. You're not looking for Dropbox. You're looking for take photo --> upload photo to private directory.And I swear by Christ's front teeth, that feature is built in to NextCloud. Along with a bunch of other things that NextCloud can do.

       @onan okay, i will check it out!! for this particular purpose, i'm wary of apps with a ton of features because the point is to have a very fast turnaround with very minimal interactions with menus, etc!

       @onan it seems to be asking me to sign up, or alternatively install nextcloud onto my server or something? is there a way to just make it use a normal standard way of uploading files to a directory? like rsync or scp or??

       @jk I suggest you look no further into NextCloud. It does what you want, but not only what you want and not in the way you want.

       @jk just to be sure, you want something that *only* does what you're asking for, even if the other features don't have to be used?

       @sireebob yes, precisely, any other features just add menu clutter and make it slower to use. i want the process to take under 10 seconds, ideally 5. i can already do it in 30 seconds using dropbox, but i want 5 second turnaround!!!

       @jk it would probably take longer to write than the time you'd save over your lifespan, unless you include ongoing anguish from lacking such an app

       @sireebob it's crazy that the easiest way to do this might be to use one of those "stream video from your phone" apps which hopefully can be configured to "4k at 1fps" or something, and then have the server be the relay for the stream, and save the first frame of each stream as an image file each time the stream source connects

       @jk @sireebob I will not say that this is a good idea because it is not a good idea, but, there is JavaScript camera API. and a little bit of php or whatever on the server will do the saving. but it's very not a good idea

       @onan @jk I feel like someone owes me money for having read through this thread, and I am pretty sure it is josef.
