       Well, my relay arrived! That means I have everything now to hook up a secondary battery in the car. The theory behind the relay is that once the main battery is charged, it'll flip to charging the secondary from the alternator while the engine is running.This should give me a freshly topped-up battery whenever I stop, and I can switch to a solar charger when possible to keep things afloat longer without running the engine.Just need to mount it in the engine bay somewhere ...

       @Naeva around July this year I'm taking Long Service Leave and starting off by hiking down to South Point at Wilson's Prom, then driving to Cape York. No schedule, no firm plan.Might come back via Darwin, Alice Springs, Port Augusta. Might pop across the Nullarbor if the car's up for it.Basically, I'm going to live in this thing for about 2 months and I'm spending the time between now and then really getting to know it mechanically in case of issues on the road.:awesome:

       @Naeva it's been a very specific dream of mine for a while and I'm having trouble believing I'm so close to it actually happening.Just hope the car holds up! I'm going to put a lot of KMs on it, but I'm not going to be doing a lot of long, hard days so I might get away with a fair bit.Imagining I'll have a daily target of driving 3-4 hours when on the move, stopping for a day or two here and there if I like the looks of a place.
