ThreadBeing half-educated is worse than being totally ignorant.At this moment the country is babbling about hedge funds, but guess what?Hedge funds are no longer a good investment.AND.For every dollar institutional investors make, they lose one.Not a single thing I'm hearing at the moment is accurate.That's why I use my own investment strategy.

You make your money on about three days out of the trading year.THAT'S IT.What I do is invest in diversified closed-end mutual funds, which are similar to stocks in that shares are bought and sold.They just not as volatile.My strategy is buy and hold, which is the only one that works.The investors who make craploads of money through risky strategies ALWAYS LOSE IT.The stock market is the only place where you can make your money grow. That's why I'm in it.

People wanted Trump to be as stupid as they are, so when he wasn't, they acted, and they handily gave the Democrats all the ammunition they needed to crack down on every possible front.If the Capitol building rioters and the Reddit market manipulators were in the pay of the Democrats, what would they do differently?They keep on doing the Democrats' work for them, so you have to wonder.It's funny that people say something didn't happen, when they have no idea whether or not it did.

@ThomasWic I would add real estate to that. But, as a half-educated person lol....I haven't a clue about the stock market. The only real money I've ever made was in real estate, but I also lost big in 2007 in the crash. It's all a crapshoot, basically, but conservative strategies tend to pay off in the long run.

I saw a video of an assault specialist resting in Mosul.He wore a rigid vest, but the sweat pattern on his uniform showed that he'd just taken off one of the full-body suits.I think they're worn only for frontal charges at hardened positions or to cross open spaces.There are also suits that disrupt daylight, allowing the soldier to blend into the urban background.We just don't know what's out there, so we can't say authoritatively that nothing happened.

@ThomasWic 1) I've managed money for institutions & private clients for 22 years. I was in investment banking prior to that. You are correct. A long only investor has to be fully invested with a repeatable strategy. I may have an idea of your closed-end strategy and it is smart. I've studied everything I could on investing and have access to the best research. The only other avenue, IMO, is intra day trading. I do that earning about .4% per day. It took 6 years to get the skill .

@ThomasWic Yes. And the banking industry has literally forced ppl into the stock market by giving back almost nothing on savings and checking accounts. Used to get a good return. But Wall Street needed our money. So 401K's were created etc. They got their grubby paws on that and all got rich. We've been steered into the market like sheep into a corral. And taxed & punished for touching our own money.

@ThomasWic The things you teach us are mind blowing. I can’t fathom how Trump un-does all of this but believing he accepted fraud & walked away feels surreal to me. In fact everything we’ve been “seeing” since 1/20 feels like an illusion...a false reality. My gut expects the curtain to be pulled back at any moment. I may not know how we get there but my mind rejects the illusion every day until we do. All I can do is rest in my act of helping give Trump his landslide & do my bit locally.

@ThomasWic correct, trading Game Stop, or any company, because it might go up unusually high or worse buying an option on a company is speculation. That game is rigged against you. Buying a diversified portfolio of companies via ETFs or mutual funds and holding for a long period is investing. That way always works in the long run. If your strategy is boring you're probably doing it correctly. If you're day trading, you are a sucker and will be eaten.

@ThomasWic One example of that non-Newtonian fluid is called D30, and it’s pretty amazing!!I once put on an impact glove with that in it, and someone dropped a 5# ball bearing on my hand and it didn’t hurt at all!! The same ball bearing dropped from the same height had just broken a thick ceramic tile, but it felt like someone hit my hand with a book.. I felt it, but it didn’t hurt!!That stuff is also used in skiers’ outfits..
