@elomatreb the official term here in UK is still "petroleum spirit" (usually abbreviated to petrol) and "motor spirit" was an old name for it (especially if it contained benzole from distilling coal at the gasworks as well as fractions of crude oil), I've also heard of it being called Spirit as well as Benzin in German (albeit on old 1970s German telly uploaded to YouTube)
