@chris I agree with those statements but think it's important to differentiate between microblogging and messaging.Federation makes sense for the former as it removes central points of censorship. The contents, by nature, are public anyway.As for messaging metadata-less transport is a must, like in Session or other systems that use Tor-like infrastructure.
