I grabbed the simple.css @kev recently released and just dropped it as is right into my write.as hosted blog.https://mikestone.meOf course, Kev is good at that whole css thing, and I'm objectively terrible at it, so I'd like to pilfer as much of his work as I can. Thoughts about how the blog looks and works with the unmodified simple.css applied?

@resynth1943 How are you seeing it? I notice when I'm on my desktop it's light and on my phone it's dark. I'm working at figuring this stuff out, but I know virtually nothing about css.@kev

@kev One thing that's interesting to me right out of the gate is the uncompressed size of my blog (I tested it for https://512kb.club went from 394.5 KB to 265.1 KB without any other changes. I assume it's mostly from the fonts, but I haven't had a chance to look into it with any depth.

@mike yeah, write.as is actually quite a heavy site for what it is. Just had a cursory look, around half of your blog is JS, and another fairly sizeable chunk is fonts. I was surprised to see that the Piwik analytics JS is nearly 70KB on its own.A local font stack and some trimming of JS and write.as could really fly.

@kev No worries, but if you're making changes, I did notice one other thing. This only happens when signed in, but it looks a little weird and makes the button unusable. Wish I had the first clue about CSS so I knew how to fix it myself, but it's never a skill I've picked up.@resynth1943

@mikeMany pages look like that on my phone for a brief moment before they scale properly. I think it is something to do with delay between page and CSS download.Turn off lazy loading and tell us the difference.@kev @resynth1943

@mike I tried to fiddle with write.as css before. To put it simply:- their html is not very adapted to css without classes (like simple.css)- they already have some weird css rules which you could override but I don’t think simple.css does that (because it has no reason to after all)@kev
