@piggo it's not really "fake candidates" per se, but there is a history of this sort of thing happening for judge positions in Cook County, Illinois: https://www.injusticewatch.org/news/2020/sham-candidates-for-judge-an-election-secret-youre-not-supposed-to-know-about/the idea, as I understand it, is to encourage people who might vote for candidate A to vote for candidate A', who has a similar-sounding name but a different party. it sounds ridiculous and illegal, but it works particularly well in judge elections (because there's so many of them) and there appears to be no law against it

@ninjawedding well, we have one paper for each party, that you put in an envelope when voting, and there is a cover paper with a list of parties. His "party name" fills a good part of the sheet with ridiculous alt-???something??? nonsense, for the low price of renewing the party registration every year. He's been at it for at least a decade now
