I'm downloading #Fedora 33 right now. I'm embarrassed to admit that the last time I grabbed a Fedora image, it was 14.

@mike it's way better in my opinion, on par with or slightly surpassing Ubuntu in usability and stability while having more up-to-date software and kernels. Dnf is an adjustment though

@lopeztel Probably not. My laptop is 8+ years old, and a modern Gnome desktop is a little much for it. It can pull it off, but everything just feels so sluggish. Definitely going to fire it up and try it though. If I'm wrong about the sluggishness, I might give it a spin.

@mike Why are you grabbing Fedora now? How does it compare to Solus or Mint?

@trek Well, Fedora 33 just came out either today or yesterday, so I just want to try out the new release. I haven't tried Mint for a couple releases, but Fedora is a more traditional Gnome interface. It's been refined to an almost flawless experience from what I can tell in the last 10 minutes of use. If you're a fan of the Gnome interface, I'm having a hard time finding a better out of the box setup. If you don't like Gnome, you're probably not going to be happy in vanilla Fedora.

@mike I have to say, no real issues for the last 6 weeks I am on F33. They are not overly crazy with kernel, so still holding on 5.8(.16) and not 5.9 branch. But for me, when the window manager works with picom and does not tear up the image in whatever browser I am using, I am good 🙂

@mike @lopeztel I've been running fedora for years on my 11 year old core 2 duo. For the past couple of releases though, the gnome team made strides in making it use less resources. You might be surprised how well gnome does on older devices ;)

@mike I don't think you should be embarrassed. It's a big world of distros out there.
