Statistics Canada have instructed police depts across #Canada to record self declared gender and not sex. Some argue that this will not have a significant impact on data but I do not agree.There is no way to know how many offenders will claim to be the opposite sex. Stats Can maintains that this will not harm data but they refuse to elaborate on how they have drawn such an unsupportable conclusion.Many journalists in Canada are aware that this incoherent change has been implemented but none of them have reported on it. (This went into effect in Jan 2019).The fact that a foreign right wing outlet was willing to publish my piece on this, while our homegrown media closes their eyes, speaks volumes about the state of so called journalism in Canada. Many Canadians are so naive that they will automatically reject facts that challenge their beliefs about this country and the respectability of our leaders. To a degree, I sympathize with this, but the clinging to confirmation bias has gone too far. @FUCKTHIS Good article. It’s insane misogyny what the so-called “progressive” Canadian govt. is doing. As you say, it will eliminate the true force of male violence against women. It is clear that few, if any governments, give a shit about mvaw, as it is at epidemic levels. This directive tells men, just go ahead and rape and kill and then say you are a woman and get put in prison with women where you can continue your raging misogyny. And no one will give a rats ass.

@Berco Thanks for reading it. It is horrifying and an embarrassment. Statistics Canada is being held up as an example of best practice when in reality they are a hot mess. All of this is scandalous.

In fact spiked often publish articles from people far to the left of the UK Labour party, and its editor, Brendan ONeill, is well known as a Marxist.They frequently show both sides of arguments, but what they are always 100% for is free speech, and it’s incredibly sad that this is no longer the position of so many who call themselves “on the Left”.Billy Bragg saying in a recent debate on YouTube, that he didnt believe in cancel culture, really epitomised this for me, as someone who has actually been cancelled by the left- wing Morning Star, with WPUK enthusiastically cheering from the sidelines.

I wrote a piece on Spiked back in March and they were all too happy to publish it — it was about the war against women in Canada and the government’s complicity in it. They are pro-free speech, not pro-right wing. There’s not enough of that out there and I respect them for it.
