@isi Ohh yeah Hippasus of Metapontum was drowned in sea for revealing existence of Devilish and unholy numbers to the world. Greeks couldn't stand anything which could not be represented as a simple ratio.Fun fact, the most holy number of the pythagorean cult was the Golden Ratio they just strayed away from the part that it was irrational and destroyed any proofs leading to that.

@mur2501 @isi Pythagoras is compared to a Corporation the Pythaogoreans are I think among the more interesting in these fun fact ways of the old philosophers. The reason we have the Octave divided into 12 notes in the standard western diatonic scale is because experiments in sound by the Pythagoreans were done b plucking a string. These give the most euphonic pitches to divisions of strings with the smallest divisors, the elegant ratios. tonic perfect fourth, dominant, octave. But in Indonesia

@DesCoutinhoActually it is and the whole western civilisation and culture traces its root to greek so it has spread out very far. For Greeks music and maths were one and the same. Even there idea of solar system was that planet revolved making fixed tones and the solar system was a beautiful orchestra. @isi

@DesCoutinhoAtom according to quantum physics is hard to explain we represent it with probabilities and maths, string theory's explanation sounds simple but mathematically its a different stuff in all. @isi

@mur2501 I had to choose between natural philosophy which meant Biology and Chemistry or Classics at age 12 in my school. I chose classics so I'm really catching up on science these days. @isi
