It bothers me that privacy violations are often justified with protection of children. Privacy is critical for everyone, especially for a child during their formative years. Forcibly spying on children instead of just teaching them all you can and trusting them just plants a deepseeded distrust for authority.

@polarisfm Also violations of privacy are *traumatic*. If you knowingly keep doing that shit, your actions "for their own good" have now formed an inescapable abusive relationship.Kids are just small adults who haven't seen very much yet, they have all the same basic needs adults do.

@polarisfm Completely unrelated to the topic at hand, I've wondered…is it "deep seated" or "deep seeded"?

@polarisfm I mean I *want* them to have a deep distrust of authority. I respect their privacy cause they deserve it like anyone else, but not because I want them to trust authority. They should see power with suspicion, including especially the economical/ageist power I hold over them.
