       @SquirrelGirl they are not issuing IOUs. Earlier today this happened to a customer in front of me, and the cashier said "I don't have the 11 cents. We are out of change. Is that ok?" They are just not giving change back. And no signs or anything to say this before the customer pays.

       @lightningcat @SquirrelGirl Change is a two-way street. If you get in the habit of giving exact change when buying then you won't build up a stockpile of coins that only come in but never go out. I only pay cash at one place, so this is easier to do. One of those belt-mounted coin dispensers might be cool, though.
