First impressions of the #pinephone:- Good build quality for under 150€- Killswitches are nice!- Every phone should have a UART port- SD card boot is awesome- couldn't get an HDMI signal out of the USB C port (could be the adapter tho). - under plasma mobile the screen has weird tearing issues and flickeringSo far not bad for a device that's essentially a dev kit.

@jrt I guess you have the UBports CE? it needs a hardware patch to make display over usb-c work.

@jrt it's not for charging orientation only, the same lines are also used for all PD and alt-mode communication

@martijnbraam thanks for the info. So the hardware mod is basically a must do. :(

@jrt only if you want to use the video output or a PD charger. normal chargers work fine. some PD chargers might also just supply fallback power.

@martijnbraam playing around with the concept of a phone as a mobile workstation that you just dock was one of the reasons I got the pinephone in the first place (my regular phone sadly has USB 2.0 with a Type-C port)
