@debacle @Adam_Stambaugh It comes with a *.deb file – but if you fancy the the complicated ways: try using thunderbird with the enigmail plugin – it also supports #autocrypt. 😉 In my experience "non-techie" people just don't bother to create XMPP accounts. Let alone keep using them.Btw, you can't compete with emails prevalence in numbers – not even Whatsapp :troll:

@mray @Adam_Stambaugh I believe that both mutt and neomutt do support autocrypt. But probably a classical MUA is not really good for chatting.Btw. I know some people, who have an email account, but only check it when triggered IRL — or by Whatsapp!

@debacle @mrayYeah, I used to exclusively use XMPP and email for a time, telling people to email me if they weren't willing to use XMPP. I'd send someone an email and get a response a few weeks later. Since then, though, Conversations/Quicksy has come about and I discovered a nice little XMPP SMS transport at https://jmp.chat/ so it's gone a lot smoother since.

@Adam_Stambaugh @mray jmp.chat is nice, indeed and I used it myself until I migrated to self-hosted sms4you, a gateway between SMS and XMPP running on a freedombox in my lumber-room
