@Goffi @nicoco @John_Livingston @larma Maybe we should start by having a look at prior-art and check the properties of other poll mechanisms.E.g. fediverse/Mastodon polls are, AFAIK, secret to the public and the initiator of the poll, but open to the initiators server? They can be single-choice or multiple-choice, but not weighted choice? The temporary result is visible immediately, not only at the end of the poll, which is not always desirable. You can only vote once, but everyone can vote?

@Goffi @nicoco @John_Livingston @larma OTOH, votes in Debian (by email) have weighted choice and the result is only published after vote period. Only registered developers can vote. People can vote multiple times, but only the last vote counts. Votes are PGP-signed and -encrypted.For other polls it makes sense to vote in the open, e.g. when voting about the date of a meeting or similar. This is what Framadate is doing. (They have various options, didn't check.)

@publicvoitI found my printer, HP M15a, some years ago and it works perfecly fine. Less than 100Β β¬, occupies only slightly more desk real estate than ISOΒ A4. I only use it more or less every two months. Only drawback: It's not #openHardware π

@lexinova @lxoWhy do you assume, that sth. entirely new would do any better than building on existing stuff, such as #XMPP?NIH never helped much. And you don't need to tell anyone, that you are building on proven technology, e.g. XMPP.

@dgil @raulNote, that not everybody has #RCS. I don't have it. I'm not even sure, if it is implemented in #Linux (e.g. #Debian or #Mobian). Maybe @mobian knows about it?For now, I have to stay with #Jabber and everything, I have an #XMPP gateway for (IRC, SMS, Matrix). Until #slidge has RCS support at least π
