@sir @maiki yeah that's the one. If you want to let people sub/unsub on your own I can recommend gnu mailman. If you want to support companies that might be evil I bet most email systems like mandrill or MailChimp or something support that kind of shenanigans.

Folks, I have a very simple need I can't figure out:A way to send folks plain-text messages based on an RSS feed.We generate a feed for each effort, and folks want to get email notifications, and I don't want to share their data with creepy companies or send HTML. Is there anything, web app or company, that just does this thing?Please #boost.

@maiki If you want literal texting, flowroute.com has API's to do programmatic SMS. You could have an agent watch the RSS feed, then turn around text subscribed numbers.
