Think what you want about DRM ... but I'm reading/listening to 2-3 books a week from the library without leaving my house. They also have online music and movie rentals.

@ZenCoder Digital Restrictions Management(DRM) is antisocial and attacks society. Quarantine is also an unnatural antisocial behaviour(imposed by state for some reasons).. They fit like a jigsaw puzzle.

@redstarfish The FSF refers to anyone who thinks differently as "mistaken" or "missing the point.". I respect Richard Stallman, I respect his right to be an over the top quasi zealot sometimes, I like his public personality and most of all I appreciate the many public benefits of his stubborn uncompromising sense of purpose.I also appreciate the wonderful technology that allows me to digitally borrow content from the library, and stream big budget videos. 😎

@ZenCoder yes, no doubt you are allowed to put handcuffs on your own wrists and no one is going to object. But I would have liked it more if you had obtained unauthorised copies of those, and enjoyed the art and culture. And later you could have paid the author/artist by conventional means for per contribution.

@redstarfish I understand your point of view ... I used to obtain "unauthorized copies" to thwart DRM on purchases.I really feel that the argument against DRM for rentals/leases really hasn't been adequately explored. Unfortunately its a complex issue and any meaningful discussion would best be done by someone more informed than myself and in a different context. Just wanted to make clear my goal is to "win" its to understand your viewpoint so as to learn from it.

@ZenCoder I recommend you read "Free Software, Free Society" 3rd editition as your starting point, at least give it a chance to explain you properly, than choose what's best. It talks about softwares, patents and copyright and everything. Gratis copies are available here: https://www.gnu.org/doc/fsfs3-hardcover.pdf (And Non commercial distribution is allowed by the author)Also there's organisation like: defectivebydesign.orgMaking you pay, for every glimps of art, is every publishers' dream.

@ZenCoder Fight against DRM and proprietary software is one of fights that's worth fighting for. With time it will get worse, we can't let large corporations to ruin our society just for their profit.
