@selea Agreed, however he'd make a great James Bond villain.

@redstarfish I think I understand and respect your opinions on GAFAM products and services. I would still argue that ideology must be balanced with practical realities.weveFamiliarity with Chrome allows me to better help the people who value my time, my hard earned skills and well my generosity.

@redstarfish I use Chromium on my Raspberry Pi. I don't mind sharing what they collect ... its how they collect it that bothers me.

@redstarfish Now your getting into some deep issues on the nature of freedom and choice paradox.I disagree absolute freedom would be mere anarchy and strip life of all value and meaning. Commitment steals our freedom. Responsibilities steals our freedom. Living in a society that enforces social conventions with both soft and hard power limits our freedom.Trading freedom for convenience is often a very wise decision.

@redstarfish I believe I understand and respect your views, but if you take that stance how can you justify running anything other than public domain software? All other licenses take away your rights and freedoms.

@redstarfish I think maybe what you support is the subset of freedoms deemed important by the "The free software movement"? Someone who believe in absolute freedom in the context of software would reject both copy-right and copy-left and insist on a attribution only license like M.I.T. or BSD.

Think what you want about DRM ... but I'm reading/listening to 2-3 books a week from the library without leaving my house. They also have online music and movie rentals.

@redstarfish The FSF refers to anyone who thinks differently as "mistaken" or "missing the point.". I respect Richard Stallman, I respect his right to be an over the top quasi zealot sometimes, I like his public personality and most of all I appreciate the many public benefits of his stubborn uncompromising sense of purpose.I also appreciate the wonderful technology that allows me to digitally borrow content from the library, and stream big budget videos. 😎

@selea I've always felt that user interface for most email programs makes it way too easy to make these sorts of mistakes.

@redstarfish I understand your point of view ... I used to obtain "unauthorized copies" to thwart DRM on purchases.I really feel that the argument against DRM for rentals/leases really hasn't been adequately explored. Unfortunately its a complex issue and any meaningful discussion would best be done by someone more informed than myself and in a different context. Just wanted to make clear my goal is to "win" its to understand your viewpoint so as to learn from it.

@selea I could maybe post some pictures that serve as a cautionary tale against the dangers of computer hoarding.
