Everytime I mention Nvidia and Linux, so many people come out of the woodwork to hate on Nvidia. But I know things they probably don't know. For example: About this time last year, NV approached Canonical. Asked THEM to include NV drivers on the ISO and and generally wanted all functionality out of the box. Why is this? Because Nvidia is encouraging people using AI, ML, and workstation compute to do that on Ubuntu, not Windows. Actively pushing people towards Linux on that front...

@Linux4Everyone that's great to hear! Sorry about the nvidia haters, honestly there's two bug GPU brands, I am glad we have competition. I just built a PC and though I was keen to make it a full-AMD build, I really really had to consider between RX580 and GTX1660. Embrace the fact there's no longer a monopoly.

@Linux4Everyone NV have few more years of working for linux before we forget how "easy" they were to work with. Long story short: https://hooktube.com/watch?v=iYWzMvlj2RQ

@Linux4Everyone true yet they still just do the bare minimum: they still keep their drivers up wraps that as binary blobs , they still have not made their website more consistent (from which unless you go to this specific cuda tool kit page you can download incomplete driver for Linux using the normal driver page etc. Nvidia is the only choice for development due tot cuda. Zo they do nog have care.

So they do not have to care that much. Its better but not there yet

@yarmo Plus, there's new competition coming from Intel this year, and you KNOW all those GPU drivers will be open source. At least I assume so.

@Linux4Everyone Isn't the core issue here that open source operating systems don't want to bundle a proprietary bundle? Sounds fair to me. NV should provide an open source driver to be included by default in the OSS world.

@Linux4Everyone people hate on nvidia because the optimus technology has been out for more than ten years. And nvidia refused to provide any support on linux. It is only in the last few years that things have been a bit better.
