@ollibaba Thanks for the report! Could I see the output of `openssl version` too, please?Regarding the yak-shaving, is this in relation to signing up for an account at tildegit.org? I only just recently heard that apparently you can no longer sign up for a local account there and need to identify yourself via some external means. Had been meaning to confirm, not happy if this is true.

@solderpunk Here's the version info:oliver@optibox:~$ openssl versionOpenSSL 1.1.1 11 Sep 2018oliver@optibox:~$ dpkg-query -W opensslopenssl 1.1.1-1ubuntu2.1~18.04.5The yak-shaving was that I had to 1) sign in at tildegit.org, 1a) I had to decide whether to give my Github data to some other server 2) Github sent a verification code because I had used a different browser, 3) tildegit.org sent a verification mail which I didn't receive (it's probably caught in spam filter).

@ollibaba Setting up an Ubuntu 18.04.4 virtual box to hopefully get to the bottom of this, will keep you up to date. It's probably just something stupid that I haven't seen because I've not run AV-98 on this particular combination of Python and OpenSSL versions yet.

@ollibaba If you pull now, it should work. I'm...not really sure why it wasn't working previously. The Python standard library's ssl module is a bit of a mess, frankly, with lots of old, deprecated stuff lying around. I think perhaps when "old" versions of Python are built against "new" versions of OpenSSL (relatively speaking) some settings may not work as expected/intended.
