I think I'm gonna get my long hair chopped off today. It's kinda gross to find my shed long hairs everywhere, it's a PITA to travel with, and it gets in my face. I don't intend to shave my head, but something almost as drastic.

When I worked in a corporate job I always had to have carefully groomed hair and it was rarely longer than my shoulders. Now I am a troubling making activist and not beholden to an employer my hair is down to my waist. I see each hair I leave behind as an act of rebellion and a reminder to those who find them of my troublesome presence! 😂 Anyway, enjoy your hair however long or short it is and a change can be very liberating. 💜 @nina

@macha Hmm, maybe it is my female socialization that I think of other people being grossed out finding my shed long hairs, which they inevitably must when I travel, and feeling ashamed. Maybe I should shed with pride.There's still the problem of hair in my field of vision though.

@nina Ooh! Shed with pride is definitely going on my list of mottos. 😂 I just clip my hair or put it in a knot when it is windy but that it a lot easier with really long hair. I also remember being very annoyed on windy days as my hair was growing. There were always bits that got in the way at the worst moments.I hope you will share a photo or drawing of your new haircut. I am keen to see what you choose.

@macha My hair is curly, so tendrils escape and get in my face even when I have it tied back. Or had it tied back, past tense; I just got it cut.

@macha Does the tabby let you pet its belly? My Lola looks very similar (most classic brown tabbies do), exposing her adorable spotted belly fur like that, and she LOVES belly rubs.

@nina Belle cat is almost 17 now and a bit fussy about how she is petted and who is doing the petting! If she gets properly relaxed then she likes a belly rub but her favourite is a tickle under her chin.

I just took my first post-haircut shower and am reminded of how much less shampoo and conditioner are required, how nice it is to not be dripping from my head afterwards, how much faster short hair dries, how no detangling regimen is needed, and how glad I am to be free of wet tendrils hanging in my face. +1 would recommend.

@nina I LOVE chopping all my hair off. I've done it a few times now. Use barely any shampoo, dries so quick from the shower, easy maintenance. Plus is so liberating and feel like a badass radfem 😎
