So -my lovely fellow spinster users. :blob_cat_heart: a long, probably rambly post.I've come to the conclusion I cannot to be part of this fork of GAB anymore. I've been feeling very uncomfortable with it's associations and reputation for a while now. I thought this would be a safe space. A protected space. But between the trolls and the agitators I cannot relax any more. Im not happy with the strength of moderation, not the mods fault, they do a stellar job but they're toothless due to the constraints of allowing 'free speech'. I don't want to coexist where someone who says all that dangerous stuff gets to keep their account here. It just doesn't sit right and when things don't sit right in my mind I feel it very physically. I've never been diagnosed with anything but small things, details, stay with me a long time and so big things like this just feel very very overwhelming. Being on here knowing users like that can keep their account will just consume me. I don't know how not to feel this way. It may seem very silly to you reading this but it's simply the truth and I don't know any better way of explaining it. I am not even Jewish although I do have Jewish heritage. I'd feel the same if the user was preaching hatred of people of colour (and they are) or hatred of feminism, i.e. women, and they are. So yes, too much input. Can't compute. I can't block/mute, knowing it exists and is allowed to live on spinster will make me lose sleep and those who follow me might already know I'm a bit of an insomniac already. At the best of times I feel like a cog that never fits in the wheel, in public, online. I probably over compensate by trying to be a defender of everything I feel is right all the time. And this trait is being kicked into overdrive here. :blobnotlike: I love that this place exists. I genuinely love all your energies. I love all your passionate defence of women and the strength everyone displays. I am rooting for you all. I am rooting for us as women. I am rooting for spinster. I am hyperbolic by nature but not right now. I mean it. I'll miss everything about the indomitable spirit of you women. I wish I had a little more of that but, I'm done. TL/DR This isn't my place. @ReSistingPink This is sad, and you'll be missed, but you must do what's best for you (I mean I suspect social media isn't actually that *good* for any of us, really, it's just addictive). I start to feel like that about most social media unless I really limit my contact with it, and I think i've been very careful to avoid most of the bad stuff here. I have however seen some awful things.Take care, and hope you find comfortable places online and off.

Please don’t go, perhaps you would feel better after a break? You and your input would be greatly missed. Have you addressed your concerns explicitly with mods/mk etc? Because there ARE rules and there does seem to be a lot of troll accounts springing up lately breaking those rules and if you feel they’re not being dealt with appropriately you deserve to be listened too! @ReSistingPink

@ReSistingPink I've been having the same thoughts for a while, so I completely understand what you mean. I'm also someone who is extremely sensitive, and everything I see stays with me for years to the point it will haunt me, so I have to be careful what I read and how I spend my time. (I do have Asperger's though.) Social media isn't for people like us it seems, at least not with how it is now. I'll most likely be leaving too, just haven't finalised my decision yet because it can be lonely to not be part of anything... I support your decision because I know it's a difficult step but sometimes you just know what you have to do.
