I've been told that if I got married, anxiety and depression would go away.

@aworldinpages omg no. it doesn't depend on that.(also this sounds like a thing random relatives tell you when you're at someone else's wedding. so appropriate.)

@Neeneen Am already preparing to hear this for a marriage happening on 23rd. The pressure is real. Plus a good partner might help you deal better with it or is more understanding but haven't seen it disappear still. @aworldinpages

@Vishsai It's wrong to think another person, who is not a therapist, could help you with any mental health issues. It's also unfair to bring someone in your life and expect them to understand. It could leave them scarred too. @Neeneen

@aworldinpages This is one of the reasons am not interested in getting married. But a few of the people who I know got better with a good partner. One was an arranged marriage but the girl had a frank disscusion with the guy and he said he was fine dealing with it. And he accepted her because she was honest and upfront with things. Can never win the marriage discussion with her. @Neeneen

@Vishsai that's because the difference is less about the institution of marriage as such and more about individual people. Although in India marriage is more a family-family thing and less about the two people. Which is where everything goes wrong.@aworldinpages

@Neeneen So true. Not that there isn't enough reasons to go wrong otherwise but family puts a whole different spin to it. The worst I have seen is families interfering because you are happily married. @aworldinpages

@Vishsai yes, certain very toxic relatives that you should rather cut off from. Been there, done that 😬 @aworldinpages

@Vishsai @Neeneen @aworldinpages Is that the worst🤔🤔Give me 1 instance in your life when looking at you happy, nobody tried to prick your balloon..if not family then relatives or neighbours or colleagues n not even childhood best friends r happy in your happiness.. What is shocking is all c happiness But none looks at pain that preceded it n how a couple or a person still stood strong in that painful tornado..ofocurse created by similar "well-wishersNobody wants to die but all wish heaven

@Neeneen @Vishsai @aworldinpages At times.. it's the family which saves the marriage coz they have been thru such times n it's matter of status at stake.. else ego is so bad that 2 individuals end up in divorce in just 6mtnhs of marriage n we r finding divorce rates increasing in india...which I contribute to the end of joint family system..coming home to tired spouse when u r tired then u order food coz got no energy to cook n then watch movies together(🤔what's romantic in that)..then bedtime

@Vishsai @Neeneen @aworldinpages While in joint family..u got a mother in law to gossip n your office stress gets ventilation before looking at tired spouse returning..things become fresh..n instead of watching movies.. u actually discuss life on dinner table n later with whole bunch of people

@Neeneen They were the parents. 🙄But agree with toxic people. Out of instagram and whatsapp .For me I had reached a state where too much positive advice was hurting me. Not bad people, just people who cared but didn't know what to do other than encourage. Which is not very helpful Somethimes. @aworldinpages

@SilkyNsa what works for you doesn't work for everyone, and vice versa! Good for you if you're finding it easier to live in a joint family system. It's possible that your family isn't toxic and so it's good for your own mental health. Also to your earlier point: "happiness" is a very fleeting thing and it's not that people try to ruin it, it's more that they want to advise unnecessarily and ask questions that they have no business asking. @Vishsai @aworldinpages

@Neeneen @Vishsai @aworldinpages Agree with 2nd para...but not the 1st.Better u don't presume that I had best family always n never had mentally toxic family..presumptions r unfair.. Now, if I m wrong regarding joint families then a couple as family system is shattering right left centre..seems u are too closed in your mobile to check on friends Married just last summer..
