@Vishsai that's because the difference is less about the institution of marriage as such and more about individual people. Although in India marriage is more a family-family thing and less about the two people. Which is where everything goes wrong.@aworldinpages

@aab1dh I agree but. Ground reality is that there's a sizeable number of lotus-supporters growing. Like, within my own family. It's scary. Today there were whatsapp messages circulating about how UAE/Oman/kuwait kicks out illegal immigrants and they're like, "Everywhere around the world they do this, so India doing this isn't something to protest". There's so much to unpack and explain to them, I'm going to run out of energy. All they do is watch tv news to form opinions. 🙄 🙄

@aab1dh my relatives who do this are in kerala though, have been all their life. They were very disappointed this past election. I've never seen them so pro-religious discrimination before. It's like how they tell us, "playing video games and watching too much tv is bad for you because it makes you think bad things," only, it's happening to them.

@SilkyNsa what works for you doesn't work for everyone, and vice versa! Good for you if you're finding it easier to live in a joint family system. It's possible that your family isn't toxic and so it's good for your own mental health.Also to your earlier point: "happiness" is a very fleeting thing and it's not that people try to ruin it, it's more that they want to advise unnecessarily and ask questions that they have no business asking. @Vishsai @aworldinpages

You know what? I actually LIKE tv shows/books that seem to be about everything at once and show/talk about [what seems like] many unrelated things.That's not bad scripting/writing. That's how everything in life really is, messy and uncoordinated and interconnected. A thing doesn't have to be just one thing.
