@SuperGideon demonstration strike. A warning shot to say "we're serious". (And It's a strike because predominantly what matters here is content creators who are payed by YouTube to create videos to create ad revenue not creating new revenue streams during this time for YouTube and not feeding existing ones.)

@Pyretta @SuperGideon is there anywhere people can find information on this action? It seems to be common knowledge that new ToS came into effect yesterday, but I've not been able to find any info at all about organised action against YouTube outside of a few fediverse posts. Is it a strike? A boycott? Is the action driven by creators, viewers or both?To be honest only viewers have power against YouTube currently. Support creators directly and encourage them to publish elsewhere.

@msh @SuperGideon It's been planned for months by a collection of lefty YouTubers. I unfortuntely don't have links on hand, but It's a protest against how YouTube's response to Coppa punishes you for marking your videos not child friendly by stealing an extra slice of ad revenue which is already tight. Among other things. . . It's also a protest against the automated moderation.
