       @garfiald it also happens in psych wards and hospitals specialized in psychiatry. it's really easy to torture people if it's "for their own safety". i saw minors tied up and sedated because they were having a meltdown and they just stay there for a few days, nurses come and feed them and they're monitored 24/7. they have their own showers and have to shower with a nurse next to them. fuck prison, fuck psychiatry, they're the same things.

       @garfiald you ever think about how, since many places in the US have no juvenile prisons, kids regularly get thrown in adult jails, some of which just put them straight into solitary "for their protection".Even if they haven't committed a crime because of that fucked up bail system that keeps people imprisoned for years without trial.#deathtoamerica

       @garfiald In NZ trans people are disproportionately put into solitary for days at a time "for their own safety", and never even get the option of their required-to-hav-as-an-option 1hr outside because getting them outside when no one else is is just *too inconvenient*Prisons bad.
