So I have a genuine question for everyone here. Given the government's announcement that a nationwide NRC will be carried out, can you think of a way to organise a civil disobedience movement by resisting the NRC?

@dpanjana We were too late to organize on Aadhaar, but NRC, the Assam example is glaring. We need to call a boycott and make it stick. Basically.

@dpanjana Another big reason is the common man doesn't understand the issues of NRC. How it is primarily anti poor more than it being able to identify outsiders. @GreySasquatch

@vidyut Agreed (also to the shubh kaam 🥂 ). It's the making it stick part that may be more time-consuming. It would be good to know what would the legal consequence be of boycotting the NRC as the laws stand at present.

@dpanjana If we can't make this stick, we are in a hell of a lot of trouble. Practically everyone opposed to the BJP would support such a boycott. If we still fail, then there is no point fighting.

@vidyut @zigzackly @dpanjana adding my 2 paise here that none of those likely to be targeted in any such exercise are waiting for a resistance to gather steam. Most are girding up and collecting documents to ensure they beat the system - which did work by and large in Assam. So there's a need to support such efforts as well.

@vidyut @zigzackly @dpanjana having said that those of us privileged and confident enough of being included should make a whole lot of public noise, starting now. Ideally get the celebrities. Would Shah Rukh do an ad quoting his own dialogue - "My Name is Khan and I'm not a terrorist, so why should I go through NRC?", for instance? Others?
