@ukkasha @sufi well it is practiced in some regions of Africa. But the essential reason was the confusion of who's the father. Now we have technology to determine that so problem solved !

I agree Natasha It was practiced even in parts of Punjab and haryana. Biologically there is nothing wrong in this.And to be honest, I feel Islam's view of having more than one wives is nothing more than using woman as a sex object and leaving hee@Irani_chai @sufi

What I know is that in initial days of Islam, Islam had permitted men to have as many as wives he wants, but later it was reduced to 4.Main reason was giving shelter to widows. But when we look at the Islamic history, this was always used as a political tool to use woman as sex objects@sufi @Irani_chai

@ukkasha @sufi @Irani_chai Good discussion going! As @sufi mentioned, Islam doesn't allow more than one if you can't do justice to the second or third or fourth wife. That's true.As for 'political tool'...agree...though feudalism and monarchy not only used women as sex objects but as political objects too. Anyway, that was then....futile to extrapolate medieval times with the modern.

@ukkasha @sufi women are seen as sex object by majority of religions and communities. It's a perception and not agenda by the religion. It was permitted for some other reason but low minds abused this. Anyway i dont agree with 4 wives.

@Irani_chai sister, Islam tells us that if a man can't be just for each of his wives, he mustn't marry more than ONE.If somebody marries more than one woman out of his lust, his act goes against the spirit of Islam. The man must be condemned, not the religion.@ukkasha

We don't need religion to promote humanity. Every human has empathy and a sense of doing what is right and what is wrong. We lived peacefully for 280k years without a shit called god. @ukkasha religion just like any philosophy can be used as a tool of exploitation. When the famous term 'inquilab' was coined by Hasrat Mohani(popularised by Bhagat Singh) it meant "inquilab se mera matlab insaan ke haatho se insaan ka shoshan bandh ho". One solution I came across in liberation theology was a human being must self actualise. This means becoming aware of the self and breaking the structures that keep one shackled. However this cant be achieved by anger @Vishsai @Irani_chai @sufi
