I do wonder about Jameela Jamil. Does she really believe in all that woke crap or just hasn’t reached peak trans? It also bothers me her support of very obese women for empowerment’s sake. Like it’s bad to objectify women’s bodies unless they weigh 200 kilos and are in a itsy bitsy bikini doing a “sexy” photoshoot. @HebrideanHecate @Brookryn

@sue1989 @HebrideanHecate @Brookryn I think she does genuinely believe. I mean, if Alice Roberts can behave as she does, then certainly someone like Jameela can. Elizabeth Warren, Chelsea Clinton, Kate Manne, Roxane Gay, other American feminists - they are not stupid women.

@HebrideanHecate @sue1989 @Brookryn I obviously think they are wrong, but I don't think they are unintelligent. They are, however, cowards and craving validation/patriarchal cookies.

I don't know... you see, I was a volunteer speaker for a youth LGBT group. I went to schools (invited, mind you) and spread information about LGB but also the T. This was some 12 years ago and all we said about the T was that it was about how people felt about themselves and the born in the wrong body crap. I never understood but operated on the principle of being “kind” so now I have some sympathy for those who haven’t reach peak trans are truly believe they are fighting oppression . @HebrideanHecate @GinandTonic @Brookryn

@sue1989 @GinandTonic @Brookryn I think the problem I have is that I never was on board with any of it, so get highly irritable!

In my defense, as soon as I came in contact with a bit of information and good sense, I quickly made my own inquiries, research and reflection and came to my senses. Jameela has been confronted on Twitter about this and (apparently) hasn't given much thought. @HebrideanHecate @GinandTonic @Brookryn

Did anyone else read this as semi-facetious? I was definitely getting a satire vibe off the Sam Smith constant oopses and the "definitely won't Google your name plus "women's shelters" bits @Brookryn

@jocelyn @Brookryn Yeah, I thought it was real at first but I'm pretty sure it's actually satire. She's too woke to openly say any of that stuff.

I wonder if she's deliberately walking a line between doing performative nonsense for the gender fandom and letting GC folks know she's thinking critically. Or that she's gradually coming over to our side of things. That whole piece just isn't quite cohesive, you know? I mean, not everyone can be a brilliant writer, I guess, but this does feel like something a libfem-turning-radfem would put together. @lavendermenace @Brookryn
