@freemo an yes. But women are embarrassed when their spouse or SO makes less than them. They got the type of embarrassment wrong.

@chris I could certainly see this being something an older generation person might say, sure. Thankfully that way of thinking is going extinct.

@freemo who knows if this is still true. What do you think, @dcgirl ??https://www.marketwatch.com/story/can-american-men-ever-be-happy-if-their-wives-earn-more-than-they-do-2019-04-29To be fair, this article is more about how men handle being out-earned rather than if women still respect their men who earn less than them.

@chris @freemo When you are thinking about children, then it matters a lot. It's less embarrassment and more worry about being able to finance having children, especially if she wants to remain at home to look after her children. Otherwise it doesn't really matter, unless social status or stability matters to her.

@simIf she wants to be a stay at home mom that's different. But we would see the same in reverse for a stay at home dad.Basically if your a stay at home anything and you make the most money I'd see why that might be a concern. But that has less to do with sex than it does with career path.@chris

@freemo @chris It's usually associated with women because of pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are more protections in place now than there used to be, and more ways to provide early nutrition if breastfeeding doesn't work out. I do think children do better when they get that special bond with their mum early on though. Also consider that women usually look to men to be steady providers. It creates a needed sense of security/stability. If she earns more, there are the pressures that come with that if something happens. Men have the same pressure but I think they are more motivated to protect and provide for their loved ones. There are exceptions but there does seem to be a biological aspect. She might also be used to a level of comfort, a certain lifestyle. Losing that can throw anyone. If you are in the higher classes then there is more pressure applied. If you are better educated then you might have higher standards, you may need more to be able to admire/look up to. Plus you have to be careful about people taking advantage.
