@mplouffe Yeah, I notice that economists often treat data like it was dictated to them in the night by Ea the Wise and Nisaba the Lady of the Stylus, but talk to anyone who has looked closely or examined how it was collected and you get an earful.

@bookandswordblog Interesting thing is that I've got four papers on FDI data issues: one from international business, two from international political economy, and one from international economics. The last one doesn't actually talk about data problems, just about how micro and macro approaches complement each other. :blobwhee: :BlobCatGooglyShrug:

@bookandswordblog Thanks for the recommendation - very interesting. Reminds me a bit of a dataset in economics on per capita income going back a couple thousand years that went through some significant revision a few years ago because of source issues...
