Reading up on Niklas Luhmann's Zettelkasten notetaking method (again). Looks fascinating and potentially very useful but also like a potential rabbit hole.I'm also always unsure how much to squeeze into any particular note system. Should I put todos in there? Project-related things? Meeting notes (with potentially important ideas)? Etc. etc.Feels like autumn creeping up and trying to keep on top of everything...

@mmin I find it best to not keep TODOs and such in notes. I keep notes in journal entries, and I put in them whatever feels important at the time I write them.I then have a separate system for keeping track of projects, TODOs, deadlines, ideas, etc. I use GTD for that.Whatever system you use, regular review of its contents are going to be key.

@liw Yeah, that distinction definitely makes sense, since (at least for me) projects and todos are transitory but interlinked notes are potentially relevant across projects. Having said that, notes are often also heavily context-dependent.One thing I've enjoyed is rapid bullet journalling to get things off my mind. Tbh I'm not entirely sure about the need for a 'permanent' accumulating note system.

@mmin I have been keeping a journal since 2009. It can be surprisingly useful at time, but it can also be a drag and tedious to write.(Markdown in git, rendered to a static website with Ikiwiki, is what I use. I use tags, links, automatic collections of journal entries, etc, which Ikiwiki provides with minor effort from me. The technological side is not important though, the systematic journaling is.)
