Hi Folks: I'm letting you know that I can't keep paying the $5 EU a month to masto.host for the Dharma Realm. It's really that bad. I have to end all monthly payments. So if someone or a group of people wants to take over the Dharma Realm, ganesha.masto.host, please let me know and we'll make the transfer. Otherwise, this instance will shut down in September.

@ShaunBartone Bummer. I work very infrequently at the moment, but would be happy to donate towards to cost if others were interested too.There don't seem to be any similarly themed instances that I know of.

So the bill was paid (today) for August to keep the lights on. But I'm notifying masto.host that its the last payment. Unless someone else takes over this instance, it will shut down on Sept. 11. So perhaps it's time to say our goodbyes and farewells.

@ShaunBartone @tim So what's the best way of meeting the future? :) I'd be happy to fund via whatever means, but maybe it's worth a chat (XMPP?) if there are multiple or related costs, or other time/effort/etc needed.I guess options are keep this instance going, someone else set up a new one, or default to a no-deal agreement ;-)

@tim @scribe Sure. I need someone to take over responsibility for this instance. I can't come up with the $5 Euro on a monthly basis. I would be happy to contribute, but someone else needs to hold the account.I have already told Hugo (masto.host) that I will either transfer ownership or shut down. He has scheduled shut down for Sept. 10. All data will be erased 24 hrs later.

@ShaunBartone @tim @scribe I have a bunch of unused credit with DigitalOcean and once that's up I have no problem footing the bill going forward (within reason). We could maybe set up a Patreon or something if we end up needing a larger instance.

@ShaunBartone @tim @scribe ok! I consider this my persona and professional account but I like the idea of having a local feed more tailored to Buddhist discussion. I can't do it right now but I'll register sangha.social and run the instance off that domain. (unless anyone else has a better available name :-) )
