I've been listening to Great Lake Swimmers tonight. I Became Awake. It was the song that heralded my own awakening in 2012. I look back on that moment now and realize that as hard as it gets sometimes, the journey continuesAll religions fail. I've been down many paths, and they all take you just so far. You always have to walk the rest of the road by yourself.

@ShaunBartone Cool. Without wishing to be pedantic, how would you define "awakening"?

@tim I’m not sure, but it was just a feeling of deep peace and fulfillment inside. A cessation of wanting and craving, agitation and anger. There was a deep place within me that I could go to that was safe. And a feeling of oneness with everyone and everything around me.

@ShaunBartone Is that an abiding experience?

@tim Yes, the cessation of craving, agitation and anger seems to be pretty much permanent, as is the sense of peace and contentment. The sense of 'oneness' with everything seems to come and go in waves. I don't seek it, but I experience it frequently enough.
