I wish to reiterate something I wish didn't need to be iterated: You are not a bad person because you use a specific #socialmedia platform, and have the right to register on any website on this planet! It does not matter if that site is called #Gab nor if it's called #Facebook #Twitter #Reddit or anything else.They are platforms used by a variety of different people. You are not joining a church. You don't need to justify which #online services you prefer nor should be attacked for it.

This comes after hell was unleashed earlier today, as #Gab released their own service in the network. Instances are threatening to block every #instance not found blocking Gab, some literally banning users who are seen talking positively of Gab anywhere public.Anyone with self awareness should be horrified at this display of blind crowd mentality. This has nothing to do with fighting #hate and #abuse any more: It's literally the world losing its mind and lashing in every direction.

I will not be afraid to merely speak about an #online service because of #social and #political sensitivities. Block the damn thing if you want, but don't tell me I'm obliged to do the same or must talk badly of it at your command otherwise I'll be banned too!What comes next: Will I have rocks thrown at me because I like #Tor and that's associated with murderers? Most of us come here to relax, to talk freely, to enjoy using this service. I did not come here to find myself randomly #banned or yelled at by social justice warriors, who think I have some duty to join whatever moral war is going on today.No: It being #Nazis doesn't make me care. I was literally #banned without any notice from a #Mastodon #instance I used on a daily basis, on which I knew and followed several people. All because I was seen making a comment toward another person, to and from entirely different instances, in which my only crime was to say that #Gab might help #internet #freedom overall.This is where we are: Afraid to say anything about anything, not knowing who we might offend and when. Would I be wrong to call all this a #morality epidemic?

@MirceaKitsune For this instance, I will stay with my conduct line :if content is report, from another instance, request and wait for it corrected/deleted base on the case (ie. missing CW or insult)If the content of the instance is really NSFW, just hide the content (to avoid non tag CW content)Silence if not suitable content (the users can still follow but the toots don't appear in the global time line of the instance.Ban an instance only if it goes very wrong and/or the mod do nothing.

@MirceaKitsune It's easy to raise a group to ban an instance based on supposed content, the content reach your instance depend on what your users follows, if an account from a nocive instance reach your, you have some options to avoid getting it away from public timeline and allow only users who want to follow to see the content.It the content is illegal or if this very aggressive content, the ban is a way to preserve your instance away from this stuff.

@C_Chell This is exactly what I'm saying! Thank you: You're an example of how I wish all admins were like, balanced and fair and rational. So much damage could be avoided if people just stopped to think before acting.So far, there's still debate as to whether the instance even launched yet. After yesterday I thought it did, but some are saying it doesn't even exist at the moment. People are literally freaking out over a prediction, there's probably nothing there at this moment.

@C_Chell But yes: Right now nobody knows how this will even turn out. All reactions are based strictly on an association that #Gab = #Nazis created by the fact that they let everyone express themselves equally without taking sides.Maybe most people there will behave and we can just block the rotten apples. If not then yeah, we can start blocking the instance if it's indeed harming other users. Individual users can themselves block instances, so if it's not extreme this can be left up to them.

We have no more hate speech than Twitter.Gab, I am being honest, is mostly good people having fun sharing their lives online. Are there some dudes in white hats in a corner? Yes. Is that the same as reality? Yes. Does Gab deny them a presence? No. Do we amplify that presence? No.The alt-right left Gab. They moved on. They weren't able to alt-right enough.Hello :)

@robcolbert @MirceaKitsune @C_Chell Gab banned hundreds of extreme right accounts that had not violated Gab's rules.That's their hypcritical way of minimizing altright content.Also they allow safeposters to brigade into the trends, while banning any dissident who tries to do the same.A completely inane 'Good Morning Brigade' (YES, they admit they cheat the trends in their FUCKING NAME!) group with 300 users usually has 50% of trending posts.
