@Canageek there's different ways of looking at it, and it wasn't Loki, but more or less, yeahkinda sucks

@Canageek I lay the blame on everyone else for thinking they could endlessly chuck sharp things at someone they hated, with impunity

@kara_dreamer Wait, the version I have by a Norse scholar says everyone LIKED Baldr. Or do you mean Loki?

@Canageek yes, because the poem was written by a Christian and therefore psychologically wrongit actually makes no sense for Baldr to be liked

@Canageek Sturluson was attempting to turn a Norse myth into a Christian morality tale and failed miserably, corrupting the whole story

@Canageek I think that interpretation is, at the very least, fairly disputable. the evidence is too scant, and our few sources impose their own slant. looking into the scholarship on Baldr and Hoðr I find mostly arguments, not settled interpretationsI'm only pointing out that the story makes sense *psychologically* as long as you assume that jealousy and hatred was Baldr's lot. you don't pitch rocks at the head of someone you like.

@Canageek @kara_dreamer but that's just the point isn't it? people love The Team(tm) but that's fake. it's loving something that's not real. the fans despise the actual players and basically think they should be doing what they do for free
