@Laurelai i plan on rolling out blocks if they actually do make the switch. but i'm not going to waste valuable configuration file space on them until it becomes more obvious that they are going to make the switch.

@Laurelai Right now, there isn't much point in blocking a site because it "might prove to be bad" at some future date" unless we are doing so for *explicate* political reasons. And really, while politics is important, making a big point of it usually results in harming people who don't really deserve to be harmed.

@kara_dreamer I don't question that Gab is a very bad place...I believe *very* strongly that calling anyone who doesn't follow the demands of any person they are a, "coward and nazi sympathizer" is an extreme and hurtful action to take.Which apparently is what Gab is looking for...@Laurelai

@kara_dreamer OK, thank you...How would my blocking them have *any* impact on that?The only impact possible that, "blocking" them has, is preventing them from *directly* communicating with people on that instance...My instance has 3 users, all controlled by myself...I believe they have proven they *can* exert control, through people who will fight tooth and nail to prove that totalitarianism is worth it if it keeps the nazis out...@Laurelai

@JigmeDatse @kara_dreamer I think you're missing some of the back story here, in terms of what the person who has been running Gab as a website, just not a federated one, is planning on doing. They're deliberately coming here because they're being driven off of other platforms for being a staging ground for known fascist violence. Also, the fascists were on their site because they're overtly and vocally a far right site. They're no different in that regard than, for example, Stormfront.They've announced the move, so it's not up in the air if they're coming or not, they are.

@kara_dreamer @JigmeDatse i don't know either, because i see blocking Gab as preventative, not extreme. I do think that everything has complexities and multiple vantage points, and that ignoring that is potentially hazardous, but there's a reason that I'm kinda shutting off that part of my brain here (and not much further tbh).
