I have pirated movies, television shows, books, software, technical specification... but I never pirated life. I am now tempted to clone the Blueberry plant that I bought.

@AdamAtSea I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that this was only if you were a commercial operation or if you were cloning A LOT of the plants. They aren't super interested if you are a hobbyist cloning a few plants.I generally get heirloom plants or plants that are no longer under legal protection anyway. What's the variety name?

@AdamAtSea There's an old woman in Colorado that runs a public seed vault that tries to preserve all heritage seed lines. A project worthy of donations. Many people get seed packets & raise up to an acre organic crop to be able to send her large seed harvests to share and restock the vault with. Corporations like Monsanto are no fan of hers obviously.

@HiroProtagonist @AdamAtSea One of the problems you run into is that an "heirloom strain" may still be substantially similar to a patented strain, and if similar enough, you lose anyway (in commercial context.)Look at the arguments Monsatan made in the Percy Schmeiser case -- the presence of their genetics, which blew into his fields from neighboring fields of modified crops, made the crops so-contaminated an illegal use of Monsanto's intellectual property.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percy_Schmeiser
