Huawei:It'll be intresting seeing the effects of the ban in the coming months/years. It is too early really to tell what will happen. It's clear the ban did catch Huewei off gaurd, (no matter the company claims) but it's more clear that despite what some people have said on reddit and such, this isn't going to destroy Huewei — at all. China has it's own big tech companies that dominate in their own firewall.

I think it's great that the government has taken a more active role in tech, although I also don't think Trump knows what he is doing. The Chinese will view this as an attack and Europe may even side with the Chinese on this issue, which would really backfire.

@mooshoeThere's actually potential for this to backfire on Google. By yanking the licence, it shows just how tenable if a position any OEM is in who uses Google's OSs. It may behoove competing platforms to join forces to create an organization whose responsibility it is to develop a forked version of Android from the OSAP, compete with a distinct software store.I'm not holding my breath on this happening, but the potential is there at least.

@mike @mooshoe F-Droid is pretty big, so I wouldn't be surprised if Huawei/China utilised that for a short time, until they develop their own store

@Logical_Error F-Droid would be a good logical choice, but I doubt they're going to go that direction. I don't think they're going to go the direction I mentioned either. I expect they've got their own store in the works. They've been working on an alternative OS for a couple years, though no one knows a lot about it. The problem is that creating their own store just fragments the market, and I don't think that will work the way they hope it will.@mooshoe
