I just found out about the Nintendo trans flag controversy. I swear people are just trying to find an excuse to get upset. They violated the ToS, and now everyone is being clickbaited into thinking Nintendo hates trans people. Maybe just keep your political shit outta Smash?

@disco being trans shouldn't be considered a political statement and showing pride that you're trans via a flag shouldn't be considered a political statement.

@amic it is a political statement though. When you're pushing a social issue or for social change, invetiably encouraging acceptance on a governmental level, it's a political change. I have no problem with the Hat in Time devs doing do though, they have every right to, and companies do it all the time with more convenient/conventional issues.

@disco the trans pride flag isn't political, and the people that are trying to make it a political statement I'd argue are the people actively trying to harm trans folk with bathroom bills, military bans, and other harmful laws.

@amic both are political, it's a political issue, and that's why it leads to such discussion.

@amic if you're talking about Smash, it was definitely political as they were asking for rights. For A Hat in Time I'd say it's political because it's a big medium and they're clearly trying to express an opinion, with hopes for change. No problem with them doing that, but in terms of what'd be "political content", flags are used to represent ideas/groups, and generally considered political.

@disco we have different views on what's considered political so I don't think it'll do either of us any good if we continue this conversation.
