How does a phone's charge last longer than the process it takes to charge it? In other words, if it takes less than two hours to charge a phone, how does that charge then last 5-8 hours?

@sean 1) that's a stupid question2) Get a better phone if it only lasts 8 hours.

@xj9 okay, that's a pretty good way to explain it

@sean because it moves energy into the phone faster than the phone uses it?

@sean In other words:How does a beer last longer than the process it takes to pour it?

@zatnosk got it. I think I just went into this with some faulty assumptions about the flow / storage of energy. I had some interest in how we've managed to make charges last longer, while making the process to complete a charge much shorter, and wasn't sure how to ask about how both of these things happen in relation to one another.

@sean 👍I just remembered that at university I learned a technique to get beer out of a bottle faster. Because in drinking competitions, the bottleneck was actually the bottleneck in how fast the best could drink a beer.And then I couldn't stop myself from posting the analogy, so I could give myself a weak opportunity to tell that story.

@zatnosk @sean the straw trick. Put a straw in the bottle, tip it, pours out super fast.

@feld @sean nope, that would be cheating.You have to swing the bottle in the right way, so the beer starts rotating inside the bottle and lets air come in in the middle of the bottleneck, while the beer exits around it.

@zatnosk @sean that's not really practical if the bottle is full though
