ActivityPub kinda blows, from what I've picked up, but at least it has other clients than Mastodon. what other options are there to stay on the "fediverse"? (I regard Pleroma as a non-starter; I have no intention of supporting the work of Nazi sympathizers.)

@ciaby see, that's just the the sort of memetic insistence in back of Pleroma that makes me deeply suspicious of itthere's no acknowledgment of the association here, no humility. just "see for yourself". and that is, in itself, worrisome.I feel that I am safe in discarding Pleroma as intrinsically unsound, if I'm honest.

@kara @ciaby pleroma has plenty of its own flaws but none of them are political, and by far it is superior to mastodon from a performance and feature perspectivebut yeah pay no mind to the things that matter and keep your tunnel vision focused on the little weeb jokes interspersed in the pleroma source. you'll get far by judging things like that

So they claim Pleroma is made by nazis (which is provably false) to get people to avoid it, block instances w/o just cause, and try to kill the project.Much like all other fediverse softwares like Mastodon, there exists a few instances running the software (Pleroma) that have people on them that say mean things, and hold the wrong opinions in the eyes of those judging. These users and instances are placed on a pedestal as evidence that Pleroma is bad.Nevermind the fact that there's just as much evidence to accuse Mastodon of the same thing. These people aren't interested in facts or reality. They are simply mistaken and will interpret any effort to point out the truth to them as a personal attack.Seriously, if everyone who's ever contributed to Pleroma woke up every day and posted something like "btw Nazis are bad" to the public timeline daily they would still get these accusations. It's pretty absurd.
