I've got dual citizenship. Does that make me an international woman?

This does bring up an interesting question that has crossed my mind a few times:When I go to change my shit, where the hell do I even do it? South Carolina? Scotland? How could Brexit potentially complicate this? This international woman is curious.

@alana_is_tooting Getting my name changed on my birth certificate in South Carolina was fairly simple, about two years ago. As I recall, they require “proof of medical intervention” (not necessarily grs) to do a gender change, but I only know of one woman who got her’s changed w/o grs and she had a good lawyer and sympathetic judge.

@alana_is_tooting If you've got UK citizenship as well, changing name is trivial, and no problem with almost all other records. (There does exist the legal concept of gender, which is used in a few specific areas, like pensions/retirement, prison, military, inheritance. Currently requires 2y RLE for a Gender Recognition Certificate. It's largely irrelevant in practice, with those caveats)Passport's easy, but does require a supporting letter from some appropriate medical practitioner confirming ongoing treatment and such.Unlikely there'll be another independence vote in the next couple years.NHS trans care exists, but currently extremely backlogged. Some private options exist, thankfully.

@alana_is_tooting yuuuupfwiw, i have birth certificate at the very bottom of my to-fix list... my process is basically social security card -> driver license -> everything else (banking, TSA, employer, insurance, etc) -> passport -> eventually birth certificate maybepassports basically supercede birth certificates in day-to-day use
