blog.travis-ci.com/2019-01-23-…> At Travis CI, we are committed to remaining the solid stand-alone solution you have come to rely on. We will continue to offer the same services [ . . . ]Yeah, that's nice. But if you look at other sources, this sounds like a really harsh acquisition. If they start off by firing everyone who has deep knowledge of the product, it makes me worry about the future of #TravisCI. I'll be looking into replacing it with #GitLabCI on the projects I'm involved in. From what I understand GitLab CI now integrates with Github(0), so it would be an option even for the projects that are still hosted there.twitter.com/ReinH/status/10986…> So apparently Travis CI is being strip-mined immediately after their acquisition by Idera. Sorry, I mean after "joining the Idera family"www.reddit.com/r/devops/commen…> have no idea, they just sent termination letters to lots of peeps, including senior engs (like the ones with the most institutional knowledge? What?!), support, COO, etc... so....IDK?(0) gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-e…

HN called it a month ago: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1…Apparently the MO of Idera is to buy companies past their prime, gut operations to skeleton crew and earn money from lingering subscriptions, coasting on intertia.

@clacke if you can be convinced to move to builds.sr.ht instead of Gitlab CI that'd be swell 😉

@sir How is Builds set up? Would it be possible to run a NixOS container and keep the /nix directory between runs? Because that would indeed be swell.

@clacke there's first-class NixOS support but no build cache yet. I'll be working on build caching fairly soon thoughhttps://man.sr.ht/builds.sr.ht/compatibility.md#nixos

@sir Oh! Nice! Then I'll stop looking for how to use Docker or custom Heroku buildpacks to make GitLab CI do what I want, and just try your out-of-the-box solution instead.

@clacke are you an admin of that organization? It only shows repos your account is permitted to configure webhooks for. If you're able to access the webhooks page for the repo in question, it's probably a bug. Can you send me an email in that case? sir@cmpwn.com

@clacke for testing purposes you can just write a .build.yml file and drop it into builds.sr.ht/submit, by the way - no need to actually commit it to your repo. Also useful in general for testing build manifests without writing a bunch of test commits

@emsenn @clacke yeah, I get a lot of praise for this feature. sr.ht builds don't actually need to have a git repo at all (but they could have an hg repo as of today if you want). Here's an example:https://builds.sr.ht/~sircmpwn/job/32464https://builds.sr.ht/api/jobs/32464/manifest

@clacke @sir Since you support Nix it would be really cool to also support GNU Guix containers. I would be a taker and I know others. Also, where are these VMs running and who pays for them? There is no info on the website.

@sir @clacke It is interesting. Let me see on the GNU Guix mailing list who could be interested in helping out.
