       Matrix is fun.1) if you federate with matrix.org you'll have a bad time (high resource usage)2) but you can't quite ban federation with servers because it's "outright impossible" (https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/issues/3173) 3) but also server_acls which aim to solve this...3.1) except they lack blacklisting and while there's an open issue, it had no activity for months (https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/issues/3953).

       I've determined that matrix is still not production ready, and won't be production ready until banning federation isn't "outright impossible".

       @djsumdog @ao from what i know it still isnt the best for i/o perf, but i could be wrong. i havent used python for anything major in a while
