@kaniini I always find it very cute how people think "hey if we just hide in the crevices, bow our heads down, maybe nobody will notice us, maybe stupid regulation will not affect us".It will affect you either way. You will get shafted by it if you don't get involved, one way or another. You might get shafted anyway, sure. But it's worth a try to stop it before it becomes a problem.

@rysiek yeah, that's sure true, but instead of soliciting consent from the greater fediverse community, you only offered the option of joining the fight, because you want to impress some bureaucrats with inflated statistics.

@kaniini I am not including any instance that was not explicitly mentioned in the thread, and I tried my best to check if it's by an admin or a mod.How else would you have done it?

@rysiek I would have asked *the fediverse admins at large* if they want *the fediverse* to become a point of discussion in a parliamentary session. you'll find the answer is likely no.

As suggested by @kaniini I am hereby asking *the #Fediverse admins at large* if you are okay with *the fediverse* to become a point of discussion in a parliamentary session, specifically about #CopyrightDirective. Please respond here.I am assuming the admins who responded with their instance info in the other thread where I was gathering a list of instances for this purpose already voiced their approval of this. Let me know otherwise.#Mastodon #Pleroma #GNUSocial #Funkwhale #Peertube

@rysiek do you also assume that the people who already responded negatively (e.g. doubting the usefulness of your plan) have voiced their disapproval?

@kaniini absolutely.Currently the tally is roughly 80:5 for a "yes".

@rysiek and of those 80, how many of them are aware that they will be making the european parliament aware of their instance?

@Frinkeldoodle @kaniini again, the solution is not to abdicate from the possibility of influencing regulation, the solution is to influence regulation to make it sane.

@rysiek @Frinkeldoodle yeah? and when they directly regulate the fediverse, what then?we're the little guy, we can't fight back if they choose to target us.what if someone makes an account impersonating Macron and then the MEPs want ID verification for everyone on fedi?it's honestly better they remain ignorant.

@kaniini i think the fediverse could dodge article 13 and article 11. because it is no single entity, no single platform. all the nodes and instances are small enough to not be noticed. So i think if Europe discoverse the fediverse after this travesty takes law, we will see an influx of a hundred million people.
