So I'm starting an article on how I got #FreeBSD set up with FreeRADIUS using AD as the auth backend, and this is my first sentence "On a personal level, I would never recommend this, I think Active Directory is more pain than it's worth."Is that too strong? I don't want to litter the page with profanity, but that feels like it might be a bit much.

@architect In my opinion the best howtos are howto which guides you good but quickly through the steps. A remark like that is likely not useful for the readers, but then again you have the right to give it a personal touch. Perhaps better put it in the appendix or notes ? And I'm a bit curious about the howto itself. Please post the web link when it is ready.

@albertTotally understandable, I just tend to write things with a somewhat conversational angle. Not sure I'm keeping it, just figured I'd ask the fediverse for some input on the idea.

@architect seems about the right level of frustration. :)

@Ianj001 Well, AD is basically a proprietary Kerberos + LDAP blend, but it also wasn't my system to configure. I was just hired to help get it working. So now, because there's not much documentation online, I'm working on outlining it.

@architectI remember going through that pain in the past. I dislike Active Directory with a passion. It's not fun at all.

@Ianj001Fortunately this setup's pretty simple once you figure out what needs to actually happen, lol. Should hopefully have the whole thing written up by the weekend.

@architect I find it as a nice touch, it sounds humoristic if you ask me and not bitter at all.I'd say keep it, maybe put it in a special CSS so people know that it isnt a step in the howto or something to be safe.
